Welcome to Culture in Context
This course combines ideas from Cultural Studies, Behavioral Science, Behavioral Economics, Psychology & Linguistics to create a holistic understanding of people in their contexts. This multidisciplinary approach can be considered Cultural Cognition. People and their cultures can only be understood because of the contexts they exist within. The values we espouse, the language/s we speak, the information we choose to believe, the experiences we choose to know, the people we choose to love – or otherwise – nudge our world views and our heuristics. The objective of the topics and materials presented in this course are to enable us to challenge our own heuristics and world views.
